EAST WINDSOR — To support a plan for Shiseido America to use renewable resources to generate about 80 percent of the energy needed to operate its Princeton-Hightstown Road facility, the Township Council unanimously approved a resolution this week to support the company’s plan for constructing solar panels on the property while the firm makes a contribution to the township’s open space fund. According to the resolution, Shiseido America received approval from the Planning Board in April to install a ground-mounted system of solar panels on 7 acres of the close to 44-acre property. The system will consist of a 1.4-megawatt photovoltaic system and will be surrounded by an 8-foot high chain-link fence. “And the system will be fully buffered and landscaped,” Mayor Janice Mironov said. “It is a commercial property on the site, and no one is in the immediate vicinity.” Mayor Mironov said the construction of the solar panel system will be done on the north side of the property where it borders Millstone Road. According to Planning Board records of testimony from the company’s experts, there will be a landscape buffer 100 feet in width to screen the system from Millstone Road. As part of the agreement, Mayor Mironov said, Shiseido America voluntarily has offered to donate 00 to the township’s Open Space Trust Fund to be used for the acquisition of open space for recreation. “They offered to do this,” she said. “This is part of the agreement.” Mayor Mironov said the township is
