They might help you with a subsidy/incentive towards the purchase of solar panels but you should definitely check with them first. Read my step by step feedback below as you might need to learn how to stand before you learn to walk. (or some variation of the expression) Anything is possible...if you are willing to put in the time/effort. Solar, Wind, and Geo-Thermal sources of energy are great but could very well be unnecessary in your situation. Here is my step by step advice

1. Contact PSEG and find out specifically what is needed to reduce/eliminate your electrical bill. See if they have any energy efficient subsidies/incentives or even a Net Metering program.
2. Research any and all state tax incentives/subsidies that NJ provides, as well as any weatherization/energy efficiency programs.(where contractors will come to your house and do the work, sometimes if your income is below a certain level this work will be done for free.)
3. AND THIS IS HUGE!!!!
Have an Energy Audit done on your home. An Energy Audit is when a crew comes in with their fancy thermal imaging cameras, blower doors, and a whole bunch of other space age looking equipment and they test as to how energy efficient your home presently is. They will take thermal imagery photos of your windows, exterior doors, attic space, duct work etc to show you if there is any heat or cooling loss coming from these areas. The cost of an Energy Audit can vary as PSEG may do it for free, or there are companies that will charge you for it. (I've heard of prices as low as $200 to $800 and higher, depending on square footage of home, etc)
4. Make all recommended changes (if any) from the Audit. Keep in mind that some of the repairs can be as inexpensive as a few tubes of caulk, a roll of duct tape, purchase and use of a programmable thermostat, installation of low flow shower head,1.6 gpf toilet, purchase and installation of window blinds, etc. Other changes such as a new hot water heater, AC condenser, attic insulation, etc can be much more expensive; however for these changes in particular both the Federal government and some state governments offer significant tax credits. (If you operate a business from your home then you might be able to accelerate the depreciation of these items...and thus save more money) Remember step 2 in that the state of NJ may do this work for free if your income is below a certain level.
5.Have another Energy Audit done to see if the repairs and adjustments that you made prove to be fruitful, and let a few months go by so that you can see if there is a significant decrease in your electrical bill.
6. If steps 3-5 are not done then solar, wind, geothermal or anything else wont matter as you will be wasting your time and money with solar, wind, geothermal, etc. If your home is situated properly, your roof is strong enough, the City of Edison Building & Zoning Departments allow for it, and you have the money to do it then a Solar system can work for you. Keep in mind too that although the initial cost of a solar system can be expensive, when you factor the tax incentives and lower electrical bills you can recoup that initial cost quite quickly. (this point will only be exacerbated if energy prices continue to rise) Call a Professional as you don't want to walk into this situation blindly. Have them design a tailor fit system for you. If its worth anything, my uncle lives in the Florida Keys and he purchased from a company called Sun Electronics a specific design for his home when he did a recent retro fit. He loves his "new" house and is a big fan of his significantly reduced electrical bill.

Sorry for the long explanation as I may even be forgetting a thing or two. I guess the long and short of it is to do and implement the changes from an energy audit, and then call a pro about designing you a solar system. Good Luck!
References :
if need advice then I advice you that if you have enough investment then you do some trade business, because this time trade can give you desireable proffit. almost...
References :
im a invester and trader

It's not just solar panels you need.
Yo need an on-line inverter system to produce power synchronized with the utility
from them.
Unless you make a large cash investment, you can't connect to the utility.
You are not going to 'make any money'. You might reduce, not eliminate, your utility bills,
but you're unlikely to recover the cost of the system for years.
References :
Retired Electrical Consultant

These produce DC ...
These produce DC electricity? If so, do you not need a battery bank? Maybe the power is changed straight over to AC by one of those boxes on the wall?

I've spoken to npower for you and the official response from their Sustainable Technology Unit is as follows:

"solar PV panels generate electricity in the form of DC (Direct current), this electricity is first sent though an inverter which converts the DC electricity into AC (Alternating current) for use in the home. This is the box on the wall that Pete refers to in video 3 (Solar PV). FYI, npower do not install off-grid solar PV systems (I.e. battery systems). "

Per your request, here's a web site that I think will give you everything you need.

In fact, it also has some information on how to get government grants so you end up paying nothing down and possibly even nothing at all depending on the situation.
References :
http://www.freegreensolar.com
